The Gently model, explained

Every item you see on Gently is from a secondhand selling platform like The RealReal. That item is not sold by Gently, rather it’s listed on another secondhand site, often being sold by an individual seller on that site.

The vast majority of items can be purchased directly on Gently, without leaving to another website (except for listings marked “external”). Your purchase will be shipped directly to you by that seller, typically within 5-7 business days.

How returns work

Gently pays for returns out of pocket. If you don’t like an item that you bought via Gently checkout, we’ll send you a shipping label to send it to us for a full refund. The item never goes back to the individual seller, so we can offer returns even when the original seller says they don’t take returns. Buy without worrying about fit, condition, or regret.

Our story

Gently was founded in 2021 by Samuel Spitz and Kunal Rai. We had spent years shopping secondhand as consumers and wanted to create a product where you could find every secondhand listing from across the internet in one place.

We launched with a product we built in 10 days, and within a month we were serving 1,000s of people everyday. We quit our jobs to build Gently full-time.
